The Chapel is in general good condition, though it needs some maintenance and repair work too.

Funding will be sought by the Friends of St Margaret's for carrying out these improvements. Offers of financial or technical support are welcome.

Maintenance work

Inspect rusting bearings and supports of the bell and stonework on the bellcote;

Treat the west door and exposed ends of the slating battens;

Remove foliage from the west wall, south corner;

Clear gulley by north passage door;

Paint rainwater goods;

Consider re-levelling and some renewals to external pavings;

Repairs to mortar fillets between slates over the west wall and parapet;

Consider removal of at least the larger of the two trees to the west, since they could threaten the foundations.

First stage repairs

Stone pointing to the west elevation.

Internal plaster renewals and repairs, mainly to the north and east walls.

Lime-washing new plaster and removal of remaining vinyl paint (from 1960s restoration) and lime-washing.

Future repairs

Minor stone conservation works to the north window - east end.

Re-pointing the boundary wall to the north.

Electrical re-wiring.

Replacement of electric storage heaters.
